I passed using UWorld!

Hi everyone,

I passed my NCLEX-RN boards with 75 questions on Wednesday, and all I can say is that UWorld is amazing! I wish I had known about this website while in Nursing school over a year ago because I tried Kaplan, Hurst, Saunders/Silvestri, and the NCSBN (author of the NCLEX) questions, but the concepts were just not clicking. This was my 6th time taking the NCLEX, and I felt disheartened and frustrated each time I failed. What was I not doing right? Was I not answering enough questions? Was I just going over content without taking notes in my own words? Did I give myself enough time to study in between re-taking the exam? I felt hopeless. I searched forums about Kaplan and Hurst and got recommendations for each, but I mostly got the "thumbs up" for Kaplan from relatives who have passed on the first try. My dad paid for the Kaplan review, but it did NOTHING for me. I was scoring 39-59% on their Qbank. I believe Kaplan was more strategy-based, so I tried their strategy suggestions, but I could not retain anything. Then I used Hurst, which I was told was more content-based, and I was able to "hang" with it for a while. The Silvestri/Saunders review was too wordy, but I was doing very well on their review questions. And the NCSBN review.. still failed after all that time.

Then I found the UWorld site randomly while I was Google-ing for NCLEX questions. I clicked on it, perused the website, and tried the free demo questions. I was impressed. The rationales for both correct and incorrect answers were thorough and not something like, "RhoGam is given at the 28th week of gestation" for each incorrect choice (I noticed this on Kaplan). I wanted to know why I got the questions wrong, and I wanted a detailed explanation, and UWorld gives that. For 3 months, I did UWorld, answering all 1000+ questions, then re-answering the ones I got incorrect and paying attention to and integrating the reasons I got them wrong, not simply just memorizing the answers. I was scoring about the same as how I did on the Kaplan Qbank, but the only difference was that I was "getting it". I didn't have to rely on test strategies to answer the questions. I then met up with a friend of mine, who suggested I only read the Kaplan Content Review book and do questions from a book by LaCharity titled, "Prioritization, Delegation, and Assignment". He said the Saunders/Silvestri questions were too easy. I followed his suggestion but worked more on the UWorld questions (I actually found UWorld questions to be similar to the LaCharity questions). Any free time I had, whether at work, on my days off, or on public transportation, I would be answering those questions on my phone.

Fast forward.. Walking into the Testing Center on Wednesday was yet another harrowing experience. I had planned to be there the entire 6 hours but ended up only being there for less than 90 minutes. While answering the questions, I concluded how much more difficult UWorld was, and thank God for that. When the computer shut off, I thought it was break time, but I got the survey and knew the exam was over. I felt relieved, but I had slight sinking feeling that I may not have passed. Sure enough, I checked yesterday, and I had no pending license. I was so happy! Finally, I was able to put away those nursing books and study guides. Even if you have to re-take the NCLEX, don't give up. No matter how many times you fail, pick yourself back up and keep trying. You went through Nursing school and graduated for a reason: to become a nurse. Best of luck to you!

In conclusion, UWorld is more on par with the NCLEX exam. This will probably be a better investment of your money.

Use U World, NCSBN for content and focus questions understand the reason why you missed the question. Practice doing questions, over and over and you will pass NCLEX.

Congrats to all of you guys who passed. I'm nervous but plan on taking Nclex next month. Took it twice before.

That's okay if you're a repeat test-taker. That means you haven't given up. Relax and let yourself breathe, but keep working on (and repeating if you have time) the UWorld questions until you understand the rationales for both correct and incorrect questions. I found that these questions were much harder than the NCLEX, so it really challenged my brain, especially the SATA questions. Regardless, I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you! I refuse to give up I worked very hard to get to this point and this is long overdue. So far with uworld I noticed how much I approved in SATA and questions in general I feel very behind watching my scores but I also notice they are improving.

The comments are very encouraging to me on this site. I'm just getting the courage to retake my NClex after many years and did not know where to start my NCLEX prep and I stumbled upon UWorld. I'm currently working as a CCHT and need to regroup and go for the GOLD. Thanks for posting your comments. Nevertoolate.

Thanks for the encouraging words and congrats to those who have passed, I myself am a retaker I have decided to get back in there and give it another shot. I've completed a review coarse now its time to work and questions and review material. I have finally mastered being able to determine the two wrong answers right away but I seem to still be struggling with trusting my gut and actually selecting the right answer. I've only done approx. 500 questions in the first week and am only at a 50% performance, I'm not sure if that's good or bad but I must say I'm scared. I'm supposed to take the test in a few weeks I'm contemplating rescheduling. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations?

Don't focus on your percentage, focus on reviewing the content and understanding why you miss the questions. Trust yourself, you got this. Remember you are a RN already you just need to prove it to the NCLEX lady.

I don't know if this will be helpful to anyone out there but I used this website strictly for my PHARMACOLOGY HESI in nursing school. I did all of the questions under the pharmacology section and ended up getting a 94% HESI CONVERSION SCORE. I'm going to be using this for all my exams. Absolutely obsessed! I think everyone should try UWORLD out.

Thanks to uworld I passed my nclex last week at 79 questions. I feel like I learned and understood the topics better using uworld than I did in nursing school. The rationales are the best study tools. Thank you thank you. Plus the price is so affordable but very effective materials.

I had graduated from school back in September and for whatever reason, it took months to fix my last name to my new last name through the CA BRN. As I waited for months (about 5 months), I began to worry. I realized that I had stopped studying as much as I should have, and I began panicking because my name was fixed. That meant that I needed to start studying again. I studied for three weeks and then took my NCLEX-RN on February 21, 2017, and it took me 88 questions. I tried the "Pearson Vue Trick" and it did not make me re-register for the exam (which is a good sign). 48 hours later, my name was posted on the breeze website as a Registered Nurse.

TRUST UWORLD! I am not even kidding. I had not studied since December and then began studying again from January 31, 2017 to February 19, 2017. It's not just like magic, but if you put in the work and make sure to understand the rationales, you will pass!

BUY THIS PREP!!! Seriously, if you are studying for the NCLEX, it would behoove you to purchase UWORLD. I just completed my NCLEX exam this past week and passed in 75 questions. I scored in the 82-86% throughout the 2000-2100 questions in the bank of Qs. I never took the self assessment prior to testing.

In taking my NCLEX, I was pleasantly surprised that the format of the exam was almost identical to that in which I had been studying for the past 6 weeks! The questions on the actual NCLEX seemed simpler than the test bank Qs from UWORLD. I LOVED the rationales given and took time to write out each rationale that I got wrong or right (if I had guessed on the Q) and studied my incorrect or guessed answers later on.

I cannot thank UWORLD enough for the help in preparation for the NCLEX, and for those of you considering using another study site, I would advise against such intentions and pull the trigger on this one! you wont regret it.
