Failed NCLEX 3 times (Story...kinda). Advice?
Hey guys. So I've failed the NCLEX-RN 3 times now. Twice last year (5/11/17 & 9/27/17) and once this year (2/8/18).
The first time, I used just UWorld to do a lot of questions and didn't really use a review center/reviewers because some of my other friends did tue same thing. Learned the hard way that I seriously lacked content review. The test stopped at 75 questions and I didn't know how to feel after coming out of the test center. I found I failed and felt so dumb.
Second time around, I did Hurst online and reviewed my content more and did their qbank. I got all 265 questions but I started panicking after 150-200 questions because I didn't expect to go all 265. For sure I knew I failed again because my head wasn't in the game. I really felt like I blanked out.
The third time, I went to a review center and did Rachell Allen. It was a very good review center and they really motivated me and inspired me after hearing stories of others succeeding after so many attempts. I studied their notes and did more concept review than questions but I did end up doing UWorld and did as much questions as I could for the last 4 days before my test (dumb mistake #3). I was prepared this time to do all 265 quesrions. But for my 3rd time taking the test, it stopped at 86 questions. I thought I did good enough to pass but nope. Still not enough.
I'm usually not a negative guy and I won't let 3 fails discourage me. I don't want to give up on being a nurse and I will change the way I study and adapt (like the test lol). So I plan to do a lot more UWorld questions, like for 2 months while waiting for another att. I'll be reading each and every rationale, right or wrong. And I'll also be studying core content from all my review notes to constantly refresh and remember all the basic info and apply them to the UWorld questions. So content review for content knowledge and UWorld questions for better understanding of how to answer NCLEX questions.
For anyone also struggling to pass the test, don't give up. Keep faith and stay strong.
Also, feel free to leave any advice on what/how to study. Anything will help 😊
You can do it!!! Im also studying for the first time right now using Uworld and Mark Klimek. Like you i did Rachell Allen with subscription and they gave me 14 modules. I actually didnt like it and stopped my subscription. So right now im just focusing on Uworld system by sytem and Mark Klimek.
I am an international nursing student and i just graduated last year. I am a procrastinator student but i believe if anyone passed the NCLEX-RN, we can too. There is a different and perfect timing for anyone who will Pass. If you didnt pass before, maybe it wasnt for you, if anyone passed, great! So there is a perfect time for anyone. Keep it strong and let's stay focus! Thank you also for helping me motivate. God bless
