i am immigrant studying for usmle step1 . i got enrolled in a tution center for exam preparation . i study from my teachers lec notes which are really good . i started doing u world random timed but my score is never more than 30-40 % cause i havnt read the entire course once,plus it takes me 5-6 hrs to review. however doing randomly on topics i have covered gets me above 50% and most imp ,less time to review plus subject wise actually consolidates concept and i can remember for a long time . i plan on doing u world twice , 2nd time full random and timed . but ppl say dont do subject wise . its okay to choose ur strategy right . or m i doing something major wrong ?
