Hi Guys

I am a 2011 Grad from India and currently in California. Recently cleared Step 1 (229), Step 2 CK(241), and Step 2 CS (Passed first attempt) and planning to apply in Sep this year.

I have been working over the last 1.5 years in clinical research in a Hospital in bay area (not university affiliated). I wanted to understand the importance of university based research in basic sciences over Clinical. Is there more preference given to basic sciences research over clinical research when choosing an applicant? If yes, then how to look/find potential volunteering opportunities in basic science research ?

Any advice would be helpful
