I have listened that you have to be on the safe side when applying to program. Does anyone knows what does it means?
I would appreciated the info a lot.
Thanks

You asked something vague, but I will try to discuss.

About number of programs.
USMGs on an average apply to 40-50 univs.
IMGs-------------------------100-150 univs.

Type of programs.

Apply to top line/dream destinations. ALWAYS..
but later dont forget to apply mediocre ones
then apply few bottom of the line programs.

usually split up shud be 20% Dream
30% realistic
30% mediocre
20% bottom.

Subspecialty choice-

depends on u personally but those with average scores/not so great CV shud think about other easy to get in programs as well...
I mean, those interested in medicine shud not hesitate to apply for pediatrics or family med.

Hope this helped u.
If not, lets see what more can we discuss.......
