Nclex Passed and Negative False Pearson Vue Trick
Hey Everyone,
Intro
I passed the Nclex with 75 questions on 10/21/2020 and did it within an hour. I wanted to take this opportunity in giving advice for those having to take the Nclex. I will describe my experience with the Pearson Vue Trick at the end.
Background
I did the three month subscription. My result for the first assessment was in the 60%-70%. My range for the UWorld question bank were from 48%-72%. I usually averaged around 58%. The final assessment I got a 49% and was indicated that I had high chance of passing.
Advice
There are three study materials I highly recommend which is first getting UWorld, getting Mark Klimek lecture, and googling Kaplan strategies. UWorld will be your bread and butter as they provide great rationales. Mark Klimek use to be a writer for the Nclex and breaks down the expectations for the UWorld. Klimek makes a great point that the Nclex is based upon principles of nursing foundations and safety. This is important because the more principles you understand then the less memorization you need of content. A great example about a principle of nursing is calcium and magnesium, the signs and symptoms are always opposite of the prefix. Kaplan has great strategies in narrowing down answer choices.
Focus on your rationale and thought process when you select an answer. It is highly critical that you review each rationale provided by UWorld (I suggest making notes and referring back). I suggest starting off at 50 questions and gradually increase the questions to maximum number of Nclex questions. During COVID, the question ranges from 75-145, and I suggest that two to three weeks before your Nclex date to do 150 questions to build your mental endurance. Make sure to balance your Nclex preparation with your physical health, social health, and coping with stress/test anxiety. Prepare yourself to go the full distance since having more questions than 75 means that you're near the borderline of passing!
The day prior to the Nclex, review your notes, then take the day off. Get a massage, play video games, go out and grab a drink, just do whatever you can to not stress about the Nclex. Eat a hearty breakfast, take a short walk, and blast your favorite music before entering the testing site. When you first begin the Nclex, just take a few minutes to relax, and let your mind focus. Most important advice, is having confidence, DO NOT DOUBT yourself, there will be questions you never see but don't let it get to you. You'll do great!
Pearson Vue Trick
I did not get the good up for the Pearson Vue Trick. I tried over a 24 hour span and still got a false negative. I check this morning (10/23/2020) for my license and surprise! I got my RN License. My advice is to check for your RN license or Quick Results two days after your Nclex if you do not get a good pop up.
