Question is giving 4 situation: head injury, dehydration, seizures with low sodium 112, and high BP. Asking what patient will need NaCl solution. Answer is dehydration. What about low sodium patient? NCLEX is suggesting hypertonic 3% solution to rapidly correct Na. However, you never rapidly correct Na, because it will mess up more of you lytes and cause more seizures/cardiac issues. Usually it's ordered NaCl at 75cc/hr for 3-4 days. Would like someone to address this question.
