So, I'm veeerry proud to say, I'm officially a Licensed Vocational Nurse!!!! I took my NCLEX-PN exam on Wed, Aug 7th, 2024 and then found out I passed 48 hours later on Fri, Aug 9th, 2024.
My tip to acing the NCLEX-PN exam is: Stay Positive, Work Hard and Having Faith (in God or higher energy).
Because let me tell you one thing: When I first started using UWorld, the questions were hard for me to answer and I didn't get the concepts. My practice exam scores were in the mid 40's and 50's. By the time I had kept extending my NCLEX-PN exam from July 24th to 29th and finally August 7th (almost 2 months after my nursing graduation), I had revised a majority of the questions I had gotten wrong, correct, marked for review and unused as well.
At the end of it all, I was now scoring in the 60's, 70's and mid 80's as well and once or twice in the 90's. And my percentile went from 11th to 16th till the end at 63rd on the bell curve. I stood at 53rd percentile overall and my Self-Assessment for the NCLEX-PN exam said I was "borderline". Not sure if it was truly accurate. But, remember, do not be discouraged with the practice exam scores! These don't reflect if your not a safe nurse! Just try your best and hang in there.
Usually, I would do about 250 questions of all topics or go for the topics that were weak, like my weak topics were (Pharm and Med Surg).
Always begin with 50 questions, take a break (15 mins to 20 mins), go back and revise them. Do another set of 50 questions, repeat. Keep going till you get to 250 questions. Or you can start out with 85 (x3) and finish 255 questions. It would take me all day (almost 10 to 12 hours with all breaks), sometimes my breaks were longer (like 1 to 2 hours), but that's because I had gotten lazy studying the material on certain days.
I'll be honest, I wasn't motivated to study during the entire summer, but if you are consistent and really have a passion in becoming a nurse, then follow what I did.
Also, make notes on topics you don't get and write one to two small details to help you refresh your mind! It will help you stay on track. You got this!
