She has been working continuously without sleep for 3 days on a project which she claims "Allah and Jesus have told me to do" that will "unify all knowledge in physics and medicine and philosophy." She hears the voice of her dead brother telling her that she will be "the next Virgin Mary." Her father states that she was treated for depression for 1 year at the age of 19 years. Which of the following is the most likely diagnosis?

A) Bipolar disorder
B) Borderline personality disorder
C) Major depressive disorder
D) Schizophrenia
E) Substance-induced mood disorder




According to me its B) Borderline Personality disorder.
because its associated with Brief psychotic episodes.

A)Mania may have grandiose delusions but its very rare to have auditory hallucinations
d) Require 6 month duration
e) no suggestive history, no substance causes both delusions and hallucinations either


Please elaborate the explanation of your answer too.

i think it should be
a)bipolar disorder
-increase self esteem
-decreased need for sleep
-increase in goal-directed activity

can not be boderline
which has the following feature
-unstable relationship
-recurrent suicidal idea
-inappropriate anger etc...

dont have the feature for MDD neither schizo
no history of substance abuse

so that what i think
