rotor syndrome

Hello,

I was doing a step 2 ck q bank question that talked about a man in his forties presenting with dark urine etc.

I thought this was strange as rotor's is congenital and usually shows up from birth from what I have read. Was this just a poorly made question?

Best,

Thomas

Rotor is a defect in hepatic storage of bilirubin. it is induced by stress or infection the jaundice is mild and does not present with dark urine. It is hereditary.Yes it can appear in a 40yr old because almost all persons with mild diseases live beyond 40yrs.
